Vive Perú!!
Hello everyone,
Sorry for not writing in so long! To be honest, I don't even know where I left off in the last email, but life is really good!
This transfer has flown by. I am training Elder Rosario right now and opening two areas with him. We have been on the move. I have never been so busy in my life. It has been so cool to work with two wards and teach so many people who are progressing.
I now have a little over six months in my mission and I have been learning a ton. The initiative to train has really helped me learn, grow, and take action. I would have never believed it, but my Spanish is starting to come along alright. It's not perfect, but I get around for sure.
We have been seeing lots of miracles in our areas and are teaching a ton of people who are progressing, accepting the gospel in their lives, and being blessed.
One thing I have been learning is how to rely on the Lord. And not just because it's something good, but completely necessary. We need Him involved in our lives, we need Him at our side in every moment because we never know when we might trip or stumble. He is our guide and the first one to reach out to help us up when we fall. I often wonder what I need to do or study to become a better missionary, but I have learned every time that the best way to be a better disciple of Christ is to know Him, study Him, and try my best to be like Him. As we process our everyday decisions, we can make a very quick and clear choice when we are thinking of what our Savior would have us do, how He would serve, and how He would be attentive to the little details that spell out our grand path.
We can read one example in the Book of John 21 in the New Testament:
When the disciples of Christ are fishing and He instructs them to cast their net on the other side, they had much success, and were invited to dine by Jesus Christ. Here are the scriptures:
15 ¶ So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
This is an excellent example of situations where we can evaluate how centered we are in Christ. Lots of times we get caught up in work or our hobbies so much that we lose our celestial sight. Like this example, it did not mark the end of their progression but rather was an opportunity to reflect on how they were prioritizing their focuses. I invite all of you to take a few moments throughout the week in your most frustrating and busy moments and meditate on this question.
Thank you all for your support and love! It is such a blessing to be here serving in Perú and inviting others to come unto Christ! I love you all so much and hope everything goes well!
Much love,
